Nik Popli

Emma Bowen Foundation Fellow Nik Popli is a fourth-year student at the University of Virginia studying Media Policy & Ethics, Government and Social Entrepreneurship. At UVA, he serves as Editor-in-Chief and President of The Cavalier Daily – a nationally ranked, independent, student-run newspaper serving the University and Charlottesville communities since 1890. As EIC, he manages a staff of over 400 student volunteers and oversees the paper's long-term strategic planning and financial management. Nik has also written numerous articles about issues important to students and is the recipient of the 2019 Virginia Press Association’s first-place award in investigative reporting for writing about his discovery of blackface history in old UVA yearbooks.
